Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the first in a series of books by J.K. Rowling that tell the story of Harry Potter, an orphaned boy born to magical parents but not knowing what or truly who he was until his 11th birthday. He gets a visit from Hagrid, the Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts, the finest school of witchcraft and wizardry in the world, and learns that he was born a wizard and was on his way to Hogwarts to learn and practice his magical skills. At Hogwarts he makes many new friends and he becomes especially close with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger who wind up helping him on the wildest, most dangerous adventure any of them have been on. Strange things are going on at Hogwarts during their first year of studies. Harry's broom flies with a mind of it's own during a Quidditch match, a mountain troll is roaming the school on Halloween and unicorns are being killed in the Dark Forest. Could this have anything to do with the package that Hagrid had picked during their visit to Gringott's, the Wizards Bank? Could it possibly have something to do with Voldemort? Harry, Ron and Hermione are determined to find out even if it gets them killed, or worse, expelled. |
